Doh!
So Megs had a baby shower to go to and a decided to turn into a tour of Illinois visiting many college friends. Naturally, I immediatly looked for a chess tournament and found one.. at the Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, IA. Other than the professors, most everyone on campus was wearing shades, and loose bright coloured clothing. very odd. The worst part was that I showed up on saturday and the tournament was on sunday. No one there had a clue, so I sat around for an hour reading a novel then drove back to CR. The drive was a grand time, I listened to What do you know and answered about 80% of the questions right! It was a very funny episode and I didn't consider the drive to be wasted time. I ended up hitting the library and reading a subpar trilogy by Jude Fisher until about 8 when I broke out the wine and played chess online until my head hurt and I lost a pair of games to some 1200 rated player. I woke up far to late on sunday to return to the tournament and thus elected to continue reading. The only thing I missed out on was the green beer as I didn't get ahold of Brian early enough friday to join the celebration. All in all, I think the drive was the best part of the weekend.
My dad was in town yesterday so we went out to eat at Winifred's. Scrupious ribs, but man is that place pricey (I think we could have eaten at Khans twice), sadly the bbq sauce wasn't as high quality.
My best news though is that Nate, Anne Marie, Megs and I are going to go see Gaelic Storm at UNI April 22nd! (this isn't new news, but I'm starting to get excited - I just need to learn to dance a jig!)
